Black and Brown Manicure!

Do black and brown go together?

I am afraid I still can not answer. But since I was going to  London Fashion Week event I thought I would make a statement and rock this combination. Also it was time for some nice elaborate nail art, and here is the result!

Polishes used
H&M - Kiss Goodnight
China Glaze - Dress Me Up
Butter London - British Racing Green
glitter nail art pen
Peacocks nail art rhinestones from a Christmas gift set

As I already said, the statement was to work black and brown together and I also decided to add green in the mix with a green necklace and green accents in my nails. I used colour blocking, polka dots and lines to create a harmonious effect between essentially different nail designs. The rhinestones really did complete the look and made it look much more polished.

And in case you were wondering about the outfit too, here it is! The dress is from Peacocks, the belt from Primark and the necklace was my grandmother's. I also had brown shoes but they were not in the photo (the awkward time you haven not trained the people with you in the way you want your photo taken...). You can, on the other hand, see them in my shoe collection video (they are the brown heels).

So what do you think? Please comment and let me know!

Kristine

OOTN Chinese New Year

Helloooooo!!! Happy Chinese New Year!

Ok, I know it was on Sunday but my aunt and I went to an event celebrating that today and it was really fun! At first I did not know what to wear but I did some research and found you are supposed to wear red and gold for good luck. So I put on my red skirt, my cardigan with the gold threading and some gold accessories and here I am!

Outfit!
Top - Primark
Skirt - Primark
Cardigan - H&M
Tights - Primark
Shoes - Peacocks
Bracelet - Primark
Rings - Primark
Necklace - H&M
Hairband - Primark

Makeup!
MaxFactor Ageless Elixir foundation
MAC Studio Finish concealer
MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural powder
Maybelline 24Hr Colour Tattoo in Eternal Silver (used as eyeliner)
Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara
Sleek blush in Pomegranate
Shiseido lipstick in Dragon
Benefit Ultra Shine Lip gloss in Foxy Lady
H&M nail polish in Berry Love
OPI nail polish in Goldeneye

The little cuddly snake was a good luck gift because it is the year of the snake now! The water snake to be specific. Isn't it exciting? Everyone born this year will be a snake in Chinese zodiac signs! You are also a snake if you were born in 1905 (wood), 1917 (fire), 1929 (earth), 1941 (metal), 1953 (water), 1965 (wood), 1977 (fire), 1989 (earth), 2001 (metal).
I am a horse (metal) by the way!

Did any of you celebrate the Chinese new year? For me it is a good excuse to see some dragons and have some great food (yes all holidays come down to the food in the end)!
Also do tell me your Chinese zodiac signs! I would love to know!

Kristine

Collection Big Fake Ultimate Mascara Review

 Hello!

As I mentioned in my last video, I was running out of my Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara and I wanted to try something new. Since I generally love the Collection products I have tried, I thought I would give their mascaras a chance. The packaging claimed to give a false lash effect, so I thought it would be fun to try it out.

First let's have a look at the claims they make about it on the Collection website:
- water resistant formula
- triples lash volume
- stretches each individual lash
- no smudging or clumping
- red packaging and brush

So, ok the packaging is red, but, unless you have a particular reason for wanting that, it is not really important. As for the brush, once it is covered in mascara, it looks black. Bit of a fail in the logic behind this I think. I do love that the brush is big though, because I can avoid having to go over the lashes multiple times in order to get the product on.

The formula is quite nice, I am not sure if it will stay put underwater, but I watched a sad film and teared up and there was no smudging. When you take it off, though, it does get everywhere. You start with panda eyes when the wipe touches your eyes (which only look good in pandas), but at least this means it is easy to remove without having to rub your eyelashes and damage them.

Now, what it does to your lashes. As it claims, there is no clumping. I hate spider lashes so I liked that there was none of that. It also feels very lightweight, which I really like. As for triple lash volume and stretching individual lashes, I think the claims are a bit too far fetched. I did not see a huge difference in volume, and the lengthening was only due to the fact it is so black that it really colours the ends of the lashes, which tend to be thinner.

Overall I was satisfied with it. It does not look like I have big fake lashes on, and I am quite happy about that. It may not live up to its claims, but what I ended up with was a really natural 'your lashes but better' effect. Definitely a day time mascara for me, I will use it but probably not repurchase it after it is finished.

For the price of 5.99 would you consider trying it?

Glitter: The Easiest Way for Gradient Nails

Hey there!

Last week I wanted to do a mani that would look fancy and difficult, but I would not actually be so, because I did not have too much time. The result was this!

I have always loved gradient nails because they look cool, but with opaque polishes the best way to achieve a good result is with a makeup sponge. However, using a glitter polish doesn't need that at all, because all you need to do is put the first brush stoke on the tip of the nail, to deposit most of the glitter there, and then paint the inside of the nail with whatever is left on your brush. Then put some more glitter on the tips to make them quite opaque and finish with a top coat! That simple!

Polishes used:
Collection 2in1 Strengthener and Hardener (base and top coat)
Essie Mint Candy Apple
H&M Aqua Splash

This mani has stayed on for 6 days so far without chipping, which I am very happy about! I totally recommend all the polishes I used, especially the nail strengthener!

And if you want to do a proper gradient nail with opaque polishes you can always watch my tutorial about it:

Now go have fun with your nails! (Does this sound dodgy?)

Love,
Kristine
